Our 2023 harvest was our first commercial harvest. In only its third year of growth we were able to harvest over 3 tonnes of grapes allowing us to make our inaugural 2023 Classic and Grande Cuvee. This is quite early for a new vineyard and a sign of just how well the vines like the Silurian soils.
2024 was a great year for us despite the rain. The season started well with no late frosts and a good harvest produced over 4500 bottles which are now aging on the lees. Our Classic Cuvee and Grande Cuvee benefitted from a blend of ripe fruity pinot noir balanced with crisp fresh acidity in the chardonnay and a toasty nutty undertone from the pinot meunier.
2025 like many English vineyards has been a truly bumper year of fantastic quality grapes. We harvested over 6.5 tonnes of pinot Noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier. These base wines will give us multiple options of Blanc de Noir and Blanc de Blanc blends once primary and secondary fermentation is completed. In 2025 so many good things happened at just the correct time. No late frosts, rapid early growth from the rains in Feb and March giving a good water base in limestone and clay, a lovely hot dry Summer and then good weather at the time of harvest. It will definitely go down as a true premium vintage year where we will keep Grande Cuvee for 5-10 years on the lees for a special English sparkling wine in years to come.
